PART 2 - Perimenopause: Think You Just Need Hormones? Not So Fast.

By Dr. Alyssa McPeak, DC, CFMP

"Would you build a house without looking at the blueprint?"

Exactly.

So why are we treating hormones without looking at what's actually happening inside the body?

Here's something that surprises many women...

Low estrogen isn't always the whole problem.

Sometimes estrogen is perfectly normal.

Sometimes it's too high.

Sometimes progesterone is the issue.

Sometimes your thyroid is quietly waving a white flag while everyone blames your hormones.

Sometimes chronic stress has your cortisol running the show.

Sometimes you're simply missing the nutrients your body needs to make hormones in the first place.

Guessing Isn't a Treatment Plan

At Roots Wholistic Health, we love data.

Not because numbers are exciting...

But because they tell us why you're feeling the way you do.

Before recommending supplements—or even considering hormone replacement—we like to understand the whole picture.

A comprehensive hormone evaluation may include:

• Female hormone panel

• Thyroid function

• Cortisol

• Blood sugar and insulin

• Vitamin D

• Iron and ferritin

• B vitamins

• Inflammation markers

• Nutrient status

Sometimes additional functional medicine testing is recommended based on your symptoms.

Because no two women are the same.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Isn't Wrong...

Let's clear something up.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) has helped countless women and can absolutely be the right tool.

But...

Adding hormones without understanding everything else happening inside your body is like putting premium gas into a car with four flat tires.

It might help...

But it probably isn't solving the real problem.

We believe in understanding your body first.

Then creating a plan that's personalized—not copied from your neighbor's Facebook group.

Coming Next Week...

Okay, so what can you actually DO while waiting for answers?

We're sharing the lifestyle habits and supplements that may help support common perimenopause symptoms naturally—and how to know which ones are actually worth your money.

(Hint: Buying every supplement TikTok recommends probably isn't the answer.)
